Art That Changes Habits: The Exhibition “Transparent: Don’t Buy – Create!”

The second “Transparent: Don’t Buy – Create!” exhibition, organized by Young Researchers of Serbia, will take place from November 25 to 27 at the N.EON Gallery in Belgrade. Through this event, we continue to promote creative approaches that encourage responsibility, innovation, and stronger ecological awareness through the art of upcycling.

This year’s theme, Transparent,” is inspired by glass as a material that simultaneously embodies fragility and strength. Our symbolic point of departure was the Prince Rupert’s Drop, a fascinating glass form capable of withstanding immense pressure, yet shattering instantly if its breaking point is touched. In this interplay of resilience and vulnerability, we recognize the essence of nature itself—steady yet sensitive. Strong enough to endure, yet delicate enough to require our constant care and responsible action.

The exhibition features a selection of works from the “Transparent: Don’t Buy – Create!” competition, showcasing more than 40 authors, from art school students and university students to established artists from across Serbia. By using discarded materials such as glass, plastic, metal, textiles, and paper, they explored the potential of upcycling and, through assemblage, ready-made techniques, and other methods, created entirely new works. Their pieces offer fresh perspectives, raise important ecological and social questions, and demonstrate how waste can become a carrier of new meaning.

We invite you to visit the “Transparent: Don’t Buy – Create!” exhibition, explore a world of ideas that inspire more sustainable habits, and perhaps find motivation to transform not only the objects around you but also your own everyday practices.

The exhibition is part of the campaign “TRANSPARENT: Don’t Buy – Create!” organized by Young Researchers of Serbia with the support of Sweden.
